You may be asking, why ROUVY?
ROUVY is presently a leading cycling app that offers a highly realistic indoor cycling experience, featuring over 1,500 real routes and augmented reality with avatars. It allows users to explore the world while training, making it an engaging option for cyclists looking to stay motivated year-round. Its extensive library of routes and pro training plans makes it both versatile and appealing for all levels of cyclists.
Each one of us has a different reason for riding a trainer. It may be to supplement riding outdoors, because the weather prevents you from going outside or you just like the grind that indoor cycling provides.
As you may have read, my reasons were that it provided an excellent way to recover after a devastating accident (read here). However, as I healed and continued using the indoor trainer, I found that I actually preferred riding indoors more. This realization came after years of training and racing outdoors. One of the main reasons is that I simply do not want to put my family through another incident that would require time in the hospital, or even worse, a crippling or fatal encounter. At this stage in my life, I have chosen to weigh the risks and determined that the trainer is the best option. Sure, I miss the outdoors, but I still enjoy my walks and the time I spend outside doing things other than cycling.

So why choose ROUVY over Zwift? Zwift was undoubtedly the go-to app for indoor cycling before ROUVY emerged. I initially used the Zwift app right after my accident because I hadn’t heard of ROUVY yet. However, I quickly became disenchanted with its virtual worlds and the “Mario Kart” aesthetic that reminded me of my Nintendo 64 days! I distinctly remember wondering during my first week on Zwift if there was another app out there that offered a more realistic experience. That’s when I discovered ROUVY.
Here are 2 wonderful YouTube channel videos on how Rouvy, I think, is superior to Zwift for indoor cycling.
There are presently over 1500 recorded HD routes with more coming! The terrain and gradient of the routes are as real as it gets. The recorded videos are integrated with real life GPS data to simulate the terrain slopes. I have my bike setup on a smart trainer (all our events are for smart trainers only!). The smart trainer allows you to feel the uphill and downhill gradient as pedal resistance. It doesn’t get any more real than that!
If you want to replicate reality, there is presently no other ride app that does what ROUVY offers.
